Both the Primary and Secondary members of the learning community of St Augustine College, have organised a special event for Advent initiative through the Chaplaincy Teams. Students in the Primary and Secondary made a donation of foodstuffs to the Millennium Chapel run by the Augustinian Community. In this way, students were made aware of children their own age who lack basic needs in this time of year, due to their social circumstances and presently because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

We thank the students, their families and educators for their generous contributions.

On November 13, the Feast of all the Saints of the Augustinain Family and Saint Augustine’s Birthday, the Augustinian Order celebrates Vocations Day. It is a day in which we celebrate so many religious who lived before us the call to religious Life, and have made it a journey of Christian commitment that leads to holiness.

It is in this spirit that representatives of the Augustinian Friars and of the Augustininian Sisters Servants of Jesus and Mary, gathered together with the Augustinian Cloistered nuns and celebrated a eucharist in the Chapel of their Monastery in Valletta. Due to the circumstances of the present pandemic, the other religious along with lay friends of the Augustinian family were able to unite in prayer through the social media.

To commemorate this day, initiatives were also organized in both campuses of St Augustine College. The Augustinain Youth Group then gathered for a moment of prayer in the new youth space that is being inaugurated in the Augustinain friary in Tal-Pieta.

Our genuine prayer made to the Lord on this occasion was first and foremost for all Augustinian religious so that the Lord would make them holy, and lead them through their active ministry. It is then a moment to pray also for all the young people who are still searching in life so that the Lord may continue to bless our Augustinian family with more vocations.

You can follow this Eucharistic Celebration together with a moment of prayer for Augustinian Vocations from here:

On November 6, the Augustinian Family celebrates the remembrance of the departed Augustinian brethren.

In preparation for this commemoration, on Thursday 5 November at 10am the Prior Provincial, together with several friars, celebrated a mass in the Chapel of the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery commemorating the deceased friars. In his reflection he spoke on: the beautiful memories that all these brothers have left us; the sense of gratitude that we should all express as we celebrate what our predecessors lived and accomplished; and above all, the faith and hope that should fill our hearts as Christians who are still going through the walk of life. After mass those present paid their respects by visiting the provincial graves. Today the Prior Provincial is going to visit the graves of the friars in the Gozo cemetery.

Between November last year and this year the Province lost two friars: Fr. Richard Attard and his eminence Cardinal Prospero Grech. Although in different dimensions, they both spent most of their lives in service to the Universal Church abroad.

Over the past few months, the Malta Augustinian Province, together with a group of Augustinian Youths have been working consistently putting the finishing touches to a new centre entitled Augustinian Youth Space with the aim of enhancing the Malta Augustinian Province’s pastoral mission amongst youths.

Extensive work was carried out in this centre as this involved the renovation of all the facilities; a new prayer chapel; a recreational area; the installation of an entirely new electrical system, and the renovation and cleaning of the entire area. Thus, the centre is now equipped with a range of facilities so as to welcome groups of different ages and to serve as a space where youths will be able to discover themselves and also God.

Presently various groups are holding meetings, amongst these the Augustinian Youth group, the group of adolescents Tagaste Youths, as also various groups from St. Augustine College who make regular use of the centre’s facilities.

All the work involved was done with financial assistance from the Millennium Chapel Foundation and the Maltese Augustinian Province, as also thanks to the continuous help of the Pietà community of the Augustinian Friars.

The aim of the Augustinian Youth group is to bring together youths from different walks of life who desire to discover themselves, to live as part of other youth communities, and to follow Jesus’ footsteps, in the spirit and teaching of our father, St. Augustine.

Now that this centre is fully functioning, various activities have already started to be held there, amongst these discussion on social, religious and spiritual themes, formation meetings, prayer meetings and a variety of social and recreational activities.

Anybody wishing to join us or requires more information on the Augustinian Youth Centre is invited to contact Fr. Terence Spiteri OSA on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or through facebook page Augustinian Youths.
