Day 2 – NO SEPARATION BETWEEN PHILOSOPHY AND SACRED DOCTRINE

02 - separation.pngDay 2 – NO SPARATION BETWEEN PHILOSOPHY AND SACRED DOCTRINE

For Augustine, Christian faith is our philosophy. For him revelation exposes the structure of the self to be image of the Trinity, and thus the believer passes from self-knowledge to the highest mystery of faith. For him, revelation heard from without moves the soul to find the very point where it touches God and to seek the knowledge of all things in His Truth. Therefore, Augustinian theology seemed incapable of sufficiently separating philosophy from sacred doctrine, reason from revelation, nature from grace.
