Between the 21 and 25th June a group of Augustinian friars gathered together at the La Salle retreat house in Mellieha so as to live together for a few days of prayer and reflection. Throughout these days the brethren had the opportunity to reflect on their personal call and on their religious life by way of reflections prepared by Fr. Raymond Gatt O.P.

Apart from these reflections, the friars spent time praying and living together their Augustinian religious life through periods of rest away from their normal duties and individual ministries. Then, on Friday, they celebrated the Eucharist together at the Mellieha Sanctuary dedicated to Our Blessed Lady Mary, bringing to these days a conclusion.

Fr Paul Muscat today celebrated a Eucharist of Thanksgiving on the 50th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood at the Parish Church of Saint Augustine in Valletta. This celebration could take place today after circumstances did not allow it to take place last March as planned. Fr Paul, was in fact ordained a priest on March 14, 1971.

Fr Paul who hails from Dingli, was a young student at Saint Augustine College but came to know the Augustinians also through their pastoral work at the Chapel of Saint Anthony in Buskett. During the years of his ministry, he worked mainly in Valletta, but also for several years, in the Convents of Rabat Malta and Victoria in Gozo. Whilst in Rabat he also served the community of Buskett. He also worked in the missions that the Province had in La Goulette (Tunisia) and in Catania (Sicily). Today, in addition to the pastoral service that he is giving in our parish of Valletta, he also serves as the Chaplain of the Augustinian Contemplative Community, of the Monastery of St. Catherine of Valletta.

Let us wish fr Paul, good health, blessings, and above all, much more service in the field of the Lord.

Thank you Fr Paul. Ad Multos Annos

From January of this year, the restoration work on the organ of the Church began due to the various damages it had. This work is still going on and we hope that by the end of June of this year it will be ready so that we can once again enjoy a unique cultural and musical experience

The Augustinian Cloister Foundation within the Convent and the Church had planned various activities to raise funds for this important project but due to the pandemic, everything had to be canceled.

The total cost of this restoration is € 25,340.00 so we are asking for your help to complete this restoration project.

We truly thank you in advance.

This month, St Augustine College has just lauched new Saint Augustine College’s Website. It is a very neat and aesthetically pleasing space which offers to the reader a clear presentation of our College in words, images and colours. Moreover, one can find in it a virtual celebration of an educational community of people who came together and continuously strive to provide holistic support to the young men entrusted to them. This is the spirit which inspired our Augustinian friars more than 170 years ago when the virtual world was not even something to dream of, but which still motivates all those who work in some way or another in favour of such an educational mission.

However the centre of the celebration are the students themsleves who were born in such an evolving era when technology is actually their daily bread. It is overwhelming to navigate in such a space and find a real showcase of so many initiatives, achievements, experiences, and all sorts of educational projects which put the student in the forefront and make the most of his abilities. This is after all the main aim of such a virtual space, together with all the interesting information about the College which one would be interested to discover and enjoy.

Whilst keeping up to date with the challenges of modern technology, this space gives just a taste of a collective commitment which goes far beyond the virtual reality and is committed to build real personal contact and strong relationships.

May you all find this virtual experience interesting and helpful!
