It’s your road and yours alone. Others may walk it with you, but no one else can walk it for you.
This quote resonates deeply with pilgrims of the Camino de Santiago. This summer, a group of educators from St. Augustine College will embark on the spiritual and adventurous journey of the famous Camino de Santiago. Led by Fr. Terence Spiteri OSA, we recently participated in a team-building live-in to prepare for this experience.
During the past weekend, we had the opportunity to experience a typical day that awaits us in Portugal/Spain and to get to know each other better. Through touching moments and sessions, we bonded with our fellow adventurers, making it easier to ensure a positive and meaningful journey ahead.
One of the most impactful aspects of the live-in was the chance to mentally relax and recharge for the challenges we face both personally and professionally. We were guided to dig deep within ourselves, something we often neglect in our busy routines. This experience allowed us to pause, reflect, and focus on our inner selves, confronting thoughts we usually avoid by distracting ourselves with trivial matters. The live-in provided a space to clear the chaos and concentrate on what truly defines us. It encouraged us to face negativity and begin planning ways to improve our lives and ourselves.
We concluded these constructive two days with an intimate mass, another significant moment shared together. This mass offered us another opportunity to unite on a deeper level as the new Augustinian Camino pilgrims. We are now eagerly looking forward to this journey, enriched by its spiritual dimension.
