Fr. Hilary Tagliaferro OSA, was among four people who were awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Malta. The conferment of the title took place at a ceremony held at the Basilica of Our Lady of Safe Heaven and St. Dominic in Valletta.
Fr. Hilary was awarded the doctorate in social sciences in appreciation for his long standing contribution throughout his life, particularly in the social field. Fr. Hilary has been an Augustinian religious for over 70 years. Throughout his life, he distinguished himself particularly in the field of sports, the formation of children and youth, and sports journalism. 25 years ago, Fr Hilary was the mastermind behind the Millennium Chapel project which was carried out by the Augustinian community in Paceville with the help of many lay people and benefactors.
In a short message on the occasion, Fr. Hilary referred to this moment as the cherryon the cake of a life dedicated to young people in continuous accompaniment to young people, helping them grow in body, mind and spirit”
