Congress on the Rule of St. Augustine held in Rome

An International Congress entitled “Sub Regula Augustini: The Encounter with Culture on the Horizon of the City of God of St. Augustine” was held in Rome from November 18 to November 22.  The event, held at the Pontificium Institutum Augustinianum  opened with a welcome speach by the Prior General of the Order of Saint Augustine, Fr Alejandro Moral Anton OSA , who highlighted the importance of the Rule of Saint Augustine in the life and history of the Augustinian Order.

The congress continued with various speakers delivering interesting presentations all over  four intense days. The fourth day included also a presentation by fr Joseph Sciberras OSA, on the reception of St. Augustine in the Order up to the Constitutions of 1926. Fr Josef, who is at the moment working as Postulator General of the Order in Rome, is also a member of the Augustinian Historical Institute. The attendees participated also in the General Audience in St. Peter’s Square with Pope Francis.

Fr Joseph Zammit OSA from the community of Tarxien and Fr Francis Calleja OSA from the community of Gozo participated in the Congress on behalf of the Maltese Province.
