Anniversary of the Consecration of the Chapel and Feast of Saint Rita

On Saturday 31st May, the community of Saint Rita in St Julian’s, celebrated the feast of their patron saint, while uniting in the special celebrations of the 125th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Rita by Pope Leo XIII. During the solemn mass, presided over by the Provincial Fr. Leslie Gatt, the community celebrated also the 25th anniversary of the Consecration of the same chapel, which was consecrated in the Great Jubilee of the year 2000, by the than Archbishop of Malta Mgr Joseph Mercieca.

The mass was followed by a moment of fellowship for all those present with the participation of a small band which, together with lights and feast decorations on the chapel’s parvis, created a sweet festive atmosphere. Earlier during the week, a celebration for the elderly and the sick with the sacrament of the anointing of the sick was also held.
