This year, 2025 marks the 125th anniversary from the Canonization of Saint Rita. The Augustinian Community of Rabat will celebrate the Feast of Saint Rita on Saturday May 24, 2025, the day she was declared saint, with a pilgrimage through the main streets of Rabat. This pilgrimage will depart from the Church of Saint Mark at 7pm.
Various other activities will take place to commemorate this anniversary. Among these activities is the current visit of the devoted statue and relic of Saint Rita from the Church of Saint Mark to all the churches of Rabat, including the Church of Saint Mary of Jesus (Ta’ Ä ieżu), the Church of Saint Martin (Baħrija), the Collegiate Basilica and Proto-Parish Church of Saint Paul, the Church of Saint Agatha, the Church of Saint Dominic, and the Church of Saint Francis.
This journey of the statue of Saint Rita among the churches of Rabat will continue until March 28. The purpose of this initiative is for all communities in Rabat and Baħrija to pay homage to this saint of impossible cases and for everyone to present their prayers to God through the intercession of Saint Rita.
