Now that the experience is over and everyone is returning to their normal routine we would like to express our gratitude for everything we went through in July for three weeks in Mozambique together with the Augustinian Sisters. Coming back to Malta, we were all sorry to leave so many people and experiences behind us, at the same time satisfied that our work left hope in the lives of these people.
The building of the Palhota, painting in different parts of the schools that are run by the nuns as well as some other work that was needed, were tasks of joy and satisfaction that improved these places where the children learn. Several times we met the children at the breaks, distributed food and greeted them before going home. Beautiful and simple moments that bring a lot of joy to children. We also had the chance to meet the young people of the diocese and on Wednesday 24 July where, we celebrated mass together. It was a beautiful moment to see so many young people together celebrating their faith.
On Saturday morning we helped the sisters distribute food and clothes to single mothers who have a baby. Through your donations, this is something the sisters do every Saturday, to help these mothers as much as they can. So we are also grateful that we found you to support and help not only with money but with your prayers.
Grateful for the community that welcomed us with so much joy, love and peace. The community of Imhambane is one that will remain in our hearts and prayers. The last two days were very emotional where we greeted all the children, teachers and young people that we met during our experience.
Grateful for the Augustinian Sisters who are doing a great job with these families, a job that is not visible but which they do with a lot of joy and from the heart. We know that what we left behind, the sisters are taking care of with great patience and dedication.
Thanks to Fr Mario, who is the brain behind this Secretariat and behind all the work that is done with the poor in this country. We thank him for giving us this experience and for his patience with us, especially to translate the language for us. We also thank the Secretariat of the Augustinian Missions for its help and support during this experience, both in the preparation and during the time we were in Mozambique.
Finally, we are grateful to God, who gave us this opportunity to experience his presence in every person we met and in every experience we went through. We encourage other young people not to be afraid to do this experience which will serve to recognize the beauty of life and the people they meet while growing in many beautiful values.
